PURPOSE: To provide cloth suitable as a sportswear having excellent comfortableness satisfying the quick dryability after sweating, moderate moisture absorption in sweating, retention of pH on the skin surface, etc. CONSTITUTION: This cloth for sportswear having good clothing comfort and excellent comfortableness is produced by applying 0.1-20 pts.wt. of superfine particles of zinc oxide having an average particle diameter of 0.005-0.02μm to 100 pts.wt. of cloth made of an animal or vegetable natural fiber such as cotton, silk, linen or wool or a regenerated fiber, etc., by padding method, etc. The cloth has a pH-retaining property to shift the pH of a solution having a pH of 4-6 or 8-9 toward pH 7 by >=0.3 when the cloth is immersed in the solution for 30 hours at room temperature. The zinc oxide particles can be fixed to the cloth to obtain a cloth having excellent washing resistance by using an acrylic resin in combination with a polyester resin as binders in the application of the zinc oxide.
