PURPOSE: To provide a water treatment apparatus capable of treating raw water such as sewage so as not to diffuse a malodor to the circumference without requiring a large-scale building or equipment. CONSTITUTION: The upper part of a biological treatment tank 2 is covered with a cover member 3 having a photocatalyst fixed to the inner surface thereof and a lamp 5 emitting light with a wavelength of 300nm or more is arranged to the gaseous phase part 4 surrounded by the water surface 2a of the biological treatment tank and the cover member 3 and the light is emitted to the water of the biological treatment tank from the lamp to activate biological treatment and, by the photochemical action generated by irradiating the photocatalyst on the inner surface of the cover member with light, the malodorous component in the gaseous phase part is decomposed and deodorized.
