The hole or ditch (1) is excavated conventionally, and lined with a membrane (5) of durable material. The container (2) is lowered into its required position on top of the membrane, and the ditch is partially filled in with a mass of earth (9) to almost completely enclose the container. The upper parts of the membrane, above the mass of earth, are then moved to cover the top of the earth mass, and joined to each other with connectors (7) to enclose the top of the container. The remaining volume of the ditch is then filled with earth to fully enclose the container and membrane.
