<p>PURPOSE: To lock a manual insertion tray while a paper feed roller is lowered and prevent the collision and breakage of the paper feed roller and the manual insertion roller by providing a tray holding mechanism holding the manual insertion tray on it when a roller support mechanism lowers the paper feed roller. CONSTITUTION: When printing paper sheets 10 are to be supplied to a paper feed unit 7, the printing paper sheets 10 are loaded on a lowered paper feed base, the paper feed base is lifted by a lift mechanism, and a paper feed roller 13 is lowered by a roller support mechanism 14. When the roller support mechanism 14 detects the descent of the paper feed roller 13 via an upper limit detecting sensor 17, the plunger 27 of the DC solenoid 26 of a tray hold mechanism 23 is withdrawn, and the end section of a lock arm 25 is coupled and locked with the recess 24 of a manual insertion tray 8. The paper feed base is lifted in sequence to push up the paper feed roller 13. When the roller support mechanism 14 detects it, the ascent of the paper feed base by the lift mechanism is stopped, the paper feed roller 13 is arranged at the upper initial position by the roller support mechanism 14, and the plunger 27 of the DC solenoid 26 is protruded downward to release the lock.</p> |
