The square articles or packages (14) are stored in sections (12) each contg. pref. identical titles and consisting or compartments (22) with suitable internal cross-section. Each compartment is formed of two laterally opposite window apertures (24) with clamps (26) driven (28) between closed and open positions.The store is filled and emptied by a manipulator (16) with a carriage (18) movable between compartments. The carriage shaft (34) is also dimensioned internally to suit the stored articles, which are transferred from and to a platform (36) movable up and down on vertical threaded spindles (44) by an electric motor (40).
