<p>Objects of the invention are to develop a zeolite catalyst to be used in producing dimethylamine, which catalyst prevents a rapid reduction in the dimethylamine selectivity at a high methanol conversion and realizes a higher dimethylamine selectivity, a lower trimethylamine selectivity and a higher methanol consumption activity and to provide a process for producing dimethylamine highly selectively by using the catalyst. The process comprises conducting a vapor-phase reaction between methanol and ammonia, among methanol, a methylamine mixture and ammonia, or between a methylamine mixture and ammonia in the presence of a catalyst comprising a modified zeolite treated with a solution containing a chelating agent.</p> |
