The invention concerns a process for massaging, in particular areas of the backs of persons seated for long periods, in particular on vehicle seats. According to the invention, the massage involves periodic or continuous backwards and forwards and/or up and down movement, in the vicinity of the person's seat and back surfaces, of massaging elements situated in the seat surface and/or in the seat back. The invention also concerns a device intended for carrying out this process and incorporated in a seat, in particular a motor vehicle seat. The device comprises a support element (1) for supporting the occupant's body surfaces which is mounted on the frame of the seat section and/or the frame of the back and can be arched by a motor drive. According to the invention, the support element (1) carries massaging elements (6) and, in addition to the arching motion, is mounted so as to be movable up and down or backwards and forwards, at least the additional movement being generated periodically or continuously by a motor drive circuit. |
