The support roller contains a number of spaced apart recesses (2) filled with elastic material (3) up to their outer peripheral surface. The elastic material is positively and/or force locked in the recesses. The rubbery filler material is stuck into the recesses. The recesses have a corrugated or grooved shape and are formed by grooving running spirally along the outer peripheral surface.
