Disclosed are smart cards containing two parts: chip carrier element (A), consisting of contact surface carrier element (2) electrically connected to electronic chip(s) (5) to connect the chips (5) to contacts in card terminals, and coil carrier element (B), consisting of carrier foil (1), which carries one or more coils (9) for contactless transmission of energy and data to a card terminal, wherein additional electrically conductive materials (7) are adhesively applied to the contact surface carrier elements (2) on part (A) and electrically connected to the chip(s) (5), the carrier foil (1) has electrically conductive surfaces (3) which are connected to the coils (9) and on which rest the conductive materials (7) on part (A), so that when joined, parts (A and B) establish an electrical connection between the coils (9) and the chip (5) through the materials (7), as a result of which the smart card made in this way can work both as a contactless card using coil connections and, alternatively, as a contact-carrying card using the contacts.
