The invention relates to a catalyst and its use in catalytic alkylation of at least one isoparaffin, selected from the group formed by isobutane and isopentane, in the presence of at least one olefin having 3 to 6 atoms of carbon per molecule, said catalyst being characterised in that it is constituted essentially by sulphuric acid and the compound HB(HSO4)4, said catalyst comprising (in % by weight) between 0.4% and 68.8% of the compound HB(HSO4)4, and between 31.2% and 99.6% of the compound H2SO4, and said catalyst not containing sulphuric anhydride. |
