<p>The labelling system assists the removal of mines from a minefield by fixing an electronic 'label' (3) to each mine (1). This label carries information necessary to the identification of the corresponding mine. The operator responsible for removing the mines is provided with an interrogator, able to communicate and remotely interrogate the electronic labels to assist in their location. The interrogator includes a directional aerial, with a device for measuring the level of the received signal. Each label may be associated with a timer on the mine, which sets the mine to be active for a given period, before switching off the active state and switching on the electronic label.</p> |
