The HV plug-in contact is provided to allow direct coupling between an item of switchgear and a transducer. The main housing of the transducer (17) has an insulating section (19) in which there is formed a tapered hole. At the base is a voltage carrying brass insert (20) and this has a spring (22) and retaining screw (21) control electrodes (25, 26) set into an elastomer insert (24) located in the tapered hole. The main body of the switchgear housing (15) has a centrally positioned bush (23).
