PURPOSE: To reduce the quantity of heat generated in a motor or a motor driving apparatus, to miniaturize the apparatus, and to lower the cost of the apparatus. CONSTITUTION: A motor drive apparatus is provided with a motor current magnitude storage circuit 1 which stores the maximum permissible value of a motor current flowing to a motor M after its start, with a motor current control circuit 2 which outputs a motor current control signal, with a motor drive circuit 3 by which a motor current at a current value according to the voltage of the motor current control signal to be output from the motor current control circuit 2 is supplied to the motor M and with a motor current detection circuit 4 which detects the magnitude of the motor current. Then, the motor current control circuit 2 is constituted so as to control the voltage value of the motor control signal in such a way that the motor current becomes the maximum permissible value when the detected motor current is larger than the stored maximum permissible value. |
