摘要 PURPOSE: To conduct detection without lowering throughput even when the flow velocity of heat is high by detecting the flow velocity of heat from the vicinity of heating elements or the part having the heating elements incorporated therein to other member or air at the time of the detection of non-emission or prior to detection and altering the detection condition of non-emission on the basis of the detection data. CONSTITUTION: The temp. change of a recording head during the period from the completion of printing to the start of emission for detecting non-emission is measured to detect the flow velocity of heat from a heater board to the other member constituting the recording head or air. In measurement, a diode sensor 20C is arranged on the heater board 20G of the recording head. The heat characteristic of an emission heater is compared with a judging threshold value determined by the value showing the flow velocity of heat to judge the non-emission of the recording head. By changing the threshold value for judging non-emission on the basis of the flow velocity of heat, the detection of the non-emission of the recording head is enabled. A long standby time before the detection of non-emission is dispensed with.
