PURPOSE: To stably have different angles of oblique orientation within the same element by using an inorg. film contg. a metal nitrate compd. in a resist and has a photosetting property. CONSTITUTION: This method for forming different liquid crystal orientation directions within the same plane of a liquid crystal orientation treated film comprises rubbing one layer of the polyimide liquid crystal orientation treated film which is formed on a substrate with transparent electrodes and has a liquid crystal oblique orientation angle in a specified direction, patterning and forming water developable photosetting inorg. films contg. the metal nitric acid compd. as the resist and executing the rubbing treatment again in a direction reverse from the previous rubbing direction, then removing the remaining inorg. films by an acid soln. The coating liquid prepd. by dissolving the metal nitrate, polyhydric alcohol or its deriv., etc., in a solvent to be used here is a coating soln. of only the metal nitrate which has the photosetting property and is prepd. by dissolving the compd. selected from the nitrate of the metals selected from group IIa, etc., of periodic table and the polyhydric alcohol and its deriv. into an org. solvent or/and water. |
