PURPOSE: To reduce the resistance to air supply and lower the motive power to drive an air supply fan, in the operation of a heat exchanger which heats or cools the air taken into the housing, by returning a flow of air from the outlet to the inlet by the use of an air bypass and a bypass fan. CONSTITUTION: In an air conditioner an air supply fan 24 and an air filter 26 are provided, which correspond respectively to an opening in the top side of the housing and another in the side of the lower part of the housing. An indoor coil (heat exchanger) 28 is provided in the middle of the lower part of the housing. In this instance, above the indoor coil 28 a bypass fan 30 is provided, which returns the air, after its passage through the indoor coil, to the inlet to the indoor coil 28. Inside the indoor apparatus there are provided a main air passageway A and a bypass air passageway B, the former leading though the air filter 26 and indoor coil 28 to the air supply fan 24 and the latter leading from the outlet of the indoor coil 28, through the bypass fan 30, and back to the inlet to the indoor coil 28. |
