PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display element which prevents a cell thickness from being changed by external force, facilitates driving control and is exceedingly improved in visual angle characteristics. CONSTITUTION: Plural transparent electrodes 14 corresponding to plural picture elements 21 set in a matrix form are formed on a substrate 12 and an oriented film 15 is formed to coat this substrate 12. Plural transparent electrodes 16 constituting plural picture elements 21 facing the transparent electrodes 12 on the substrate 1 are formed on another substrate 13 and an oriented film 17 is formed to cover the substrate 13. High-polymer walls 18 which are wall structural bodies forming liquid crystal regions 19 are formed in the plural regions corresponding to the respective picture elements 21 between the respective substrates 12 and 13. These high-polymer walls 18 have unit walls partially or wholly enclosing liquid crystals by each of the respective picture elements 21. Polarizing plates 24, 25 are respectively arranged on the outer sides of the respective substrates 12, 13. |
