<p>PURPOSE: To transmit a signal regenerated from a medium recorded at a variable compression rate to a device recording/reproducing at a fixed compression rate. CONSTITUTION: The video data 201-205 are the data of every frame, and are compressed according to contents of a video respectively. That is, a data amount is made large in the video whose movement is fast, and the data amount is made small in the video whose movement is slow. The video data 206-210 processed in such a manner are sequencially recorded on a disk at a constant linear velocity and at the same recording density. The respective video data 211, 212, 213, 214, 215 regenerated from the disk are provided with the different data amounts, so that they become the same data amounts, e.g. when the video data 218 is decided, and it is defined that they are provided with the data amounts equal to the maximum data amounts, the dummy data 221, 222, 223, 224 are added to the video data 216, 217, 219, 220 so as to become equal to the data amounts.</p> |
