<p>PURPOSE: To economically manufacture a vanadium electrolyte of high purity, using vanadium pentoxide or metavanadic acid containing many impurities as a raw material. CONSTITUTION: A vanadium compound is dissolved in a solvent under an alkaline or a neutral condition and, then, vanadium ions are heated and polymerized under an acidic condition to deposit and separate a polyvanadium acid compound. Thereafter, a part of the polyvanadium acid compound is baked in an inert gas or oxidization atmosphere to remove ammonium. Then, at least the remaining part of the polyvanadium acid compound is treated under a reducing gas atmosphere, thereby producing a trivalent vanadium compound. Furthermore, this compound is dissolved in an acid solution to produce a trivalent vanadium electrolyte. Thereafter, vanadium pentoxide from the de- ammoniation process and a part of the trivalent vanadium solution are mixed for reaction, thereby producing a mixed electrolyte of V<4+> and V<3+> .</p> |
