<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a predictive coder/decoder capable of transmitting a high quality image because the tip part of a horizontal synchronizing signal is not clipped for a wide dynamic range signal and without generating the overload due to a quantization, even if a large amplitude limit is performed for maximum quantization noise by a limiter. CONSTITUTION: On a transmission side, an offset circuit 2 adding an offset signal to an inputted TV signal and outputting the TV signal and a limiter circuit 4 inputting the output of this offset circuit 2, adding an amplitude limit and outputting the output are provided, and a predictive coding circuit 10 inputs the output of the limiter circuit 4 as a TV signal calculating the difference with a predictive signal and determining a predictive error signal. On a reception side, an inverse offset circuit 14 substracting the offset signal from a decoding signal and outputting the decoded TV signal is provided on the input side of a D/A converter 15.</p> |
