PURPOSE: To produce a substrate for an optical recording medium having satisfactory transfer performance and thickness precision and almost free from optical strain without causing any distortion and deformation of an edge part of a thermoplastic resin sheet. CONSTITUTION: When a thermoplastic resin is extrusion-molded with a roll- shaped stamper 2 and the objective substrate is produced, a support 10 is formed at an edge part of a sheet of the resin and the support part is sent by a sheet conveying jig 11 to convey the sheet.
