PURPOSE: To provide a linear amplifier failure detection equipment having a simple configuration and its method capable of detecting a failure of a linear amplifier and also capable of locating a particular phase of the failed amplifier. CONSTITUTION: In a failure detection method for linear amplifiers for a drive circuit which comprises a CPU 1 for outputting current commands for supplying a current to each phase of a Y-connected three-phase motor 4, each linear amplifier 3 for respectively amplifying each current command, a current detector 5 for detecting a current at the neutral point of the three-phase motor 4, an independent DC current command is respectively given to each phase, and the presence or absence of a failure of a linear amplifier and the failed linear amplifier 3 are detected from the output of the current detector 5. |
