PURPOSE: To provide the musical sound generating device which enables playing operation with a feeling close to that of a stringed musical instrument while having the style of a keyboard musical instrument. CONSTITUTION: Of a keyboard 12, each key has a pitch specifying function corresponding to its position in keyboard musical instrument mode similarly to an ordinary keyboard and also has a sounding specifying function. In stringed musical instrument mode, on the other hand, the keyboard is divided into a pitch-specification side key area A and a sound-specification side key area B. Then the keys in the pitch-specification side area A has only pitch specifying functions and the keys in the sounding-specification side key area B has only sound specifying functions. Namely, when C6 (sounding specifying key of a 5th string), E6 (sounding specifying key of a 3rd string, and G6 (sounding specifying key of a 1st string) are pressed at the same time in, for example, the sounding-specification side key area B and C3, E3, and G3 are pressed in the pitch-specification side key area A, a pitch C3 as the musical sound of the 5th string, a pitch E3 as the musical sound of the 3rd string, and a pitch G6 as the musical sound of the 1st string are generated. |
