PURPOSE: To provide a device and method for reproducing optical disk effectively acting for protection of copyright by prohibiting unlimited use of a video signal, an audio signal or other digital data. CONSTITUTION: When copy prevention information, information for limiting the number of times of reproduction or the information being like to it are received, the control information is recorded on the control data area 102 of an optical disk 101 beforehand. When the data of a user data area 103 are reproduced, an optical pickup 104 is controlled through a reproducing laser power controller 108 according to the control information, and the data is irradiated with a laser power larger than regular reproducing laser power. By such a manner, the recording data are deteriorated every time when the data of the optical disk 101 are reproduced. Thus, the unlimited use of the data is prevented. |
