PURPOSE: To form a uniform, thin layer of developer by providing a plurality of slits near the upstream side of the pressure contact part of a layer thickness regulation means and opposite a developer carry member, thereby preventing the developer from being fixed. CONSTITUTION: In a developing device 1, toner 6 carried by the rotation of a supply roller 5 is negatively electrified and it is carried to the pressure contact part of the thin-layer formation blade 3 by sticking to the surface of a developing roller 2. The toner sticking near the surface of the developing roller 2 has a sufficient amount of electrification but the one sticking apart from the surface of the developing roller 2 does not have a sufficient amount of electrification. Therefore, the insufficiently electrified toner is scraped off by a mechanical force when brought into contact with the slit member 4 by the rotation of the developing roller 2. The sufficiently electrified toner is carried to the pressure contact part of the thin-layer formation blade 3 without being scraped by the slit member 4 and, thus, the uniform, thin layer of toner is formed on the developing roller 2. |
