PURPOSE: To shorten the insertion stroke of an electronic component insertion means and to make short the work time of the means by a method wherein an electronic component insertion device is constituted into a structure that a moving arm is formed in such a way as to be able to expand and contract and when the arm is rotated toward the electronic component insertion means, it is extended. CONSTITUTION: A first block 17 is rotated in the direction shown by an arrow B on a second axis 11 of rotation and at the same time, a second block 18 is held in such a way as to be able to expand and contract and a transfer arm is constituted. A guide roller 19 mounted to the block 18 is held between almost horizontally installed guides 20 and 21 and is guided. Thereby, in the case wherein the block 17 is rotated in the direction shown by the arrow B toward lead wire holding levers 15a and 15b of an electronic component insertion means 10 on the axis 11 of rotation, the block 18 extends out from the block 17 and chucks 5a and 5b can move their holding axial electronic component 1 to the levers 15a and 15b of the means 10 without almost changing the distance between the component 1 and a circuit board.
