摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To provide an active matrix type liquid crystal display element with which a wider visual field angle and driving with a lower voltage are realized. CONSTITUTION: Pixel electrodes are divided to first and second sub-pixel electrodes 104, 105 and auxiliary electrodes 106 electrically connected to the first sub-pixel electrodes 104 are disposed via insulating films on the second sub-pixel electrodes 105, scanning wirings 101 of a previous stage and the first pixel electrodes 104 of the previous stage. The divided sub-pixel electrodes 104, 105 are electrically connected to each other by capacitors in such a manner, by which the expansion of the visual field angle by superposition of the different optical characteristics of the plural sub-pixel electrodes is made possible. The first sub-pixel electrodes 104 are electrically connected by the first sub-pixel electrodes 104 of the previous stage and the capacitors, by which the voltages between the respective sub-pixel electrodes are capable of superposing the changes in the potential of the sub-pixel electrodes of the next stage to be charged in the selection period of the next scanning wirings on the signal voltage charged in the selection period of the scanning period via the capacitors and, therefore, the driving with the lower voltage is made possible.</p>
