PURPOSE: To make it possible to semipermanently hold information without requiring impression of a power source voltage and to prevent the destruction of the information by radiation incidence, magnetic storm, etc. CONSTITUTION: A storage medium 1 which is a conductor is placed in a cavity 3 bored in an insulator 2 and maintains contact with contact electrodes 4 projecting into the cavity at all times. A first detecting electrode 5 and a second detecting electrode 6 which are able to come into contact with the storage medium 1 are arranged on the right and left of the cavity 3. First driving electrodes 7 and second driving electrodes 8 are arranged on the outer side of the cavity 3 so as to enclose the cavity. The storage of the information, i.e., the position of the storage medium, is changed by supplying positive and negative voltage to the contact electrodes 4, the first driving electrode 7 and the second driving electrode 8. The position of the storage medium 1 is detected by detecting the presence or absence of the current between the contact electrode 4 with the first detecting electrode 5 and the second detecting electrode 6. |
