<p>A process for the immobilisation of a fluid, metal-containing waste, comprises the mixing of the waste with a cementitious composition, wherein the cement comprises at least 5% by weight of high alumina cement. The cementitious composition preferably comprises a mixture of ordinary portland cement and high alumina cement, and the properties may be improved by the use of other ingredients, particularly very fine silica, plasticiser and paraffin. The waste immobilised therein shows a greatly reduced tendency to leach out, even if highly mobile metals such as zinc are involved.</p> |
