The gas pressure regulator has a shell divided in two by a membrane (4). The bottom part (5) of the regulator is connected to the gas supply (50), and a spring (7) in the top half of the regulator acts on the membrane to balance incoming pressure and act on a valve determining the rate of delivery of gas to the outlet (51).The regulator assembly is sealed, apart from a vent pipe (9) connecting the top side of the membrane to atmosphere. The vent pipe extends up to the top of the pit containing the regulator, and terminates in an inverted 'U' (10) with an open end. The 'U' is just below the cover (13) of the regulator pit.
