<p>PURPOSE: To prevent the formation of electrical double layers in the upper part of the display pixel electrode films of liquid crystals and the deterioration of image quality by covering a peripheral wiring film via an insulating film and forming a shielding wiring film electrically connected to a common electrode film. CONSTITUTION: The peripheral wiring film 3 is, covered by the shielding wiring film 11 via an insulating film 10. The shielding wiring film 11 is electrically connected to the common electrode film 7. The part upper than the peripheral wiring film 3 of liquid crystals 9 is in contact in its lower side with the shield 11 and has approximately the same potential as the potential of the upper common electrode film 7 and, therefore, the potential difference between the upper and lower parts does not arise. Then, there is no possibility that the electrical double layers are generated between an oriented film 8 and its liquid crystal layer 9 on the CF substrate 6 side and there is no possibility that the image quality is deteriorated in the peripheral part of the screen. The peripheral wiring film 3 is otherwise disposed on the side outer than the position opposite to the common electrode film 7. In such a case, the liquid liquid crystals are not received with to DC voltage by the potential difference between the peripheral wiring film 3 and the common electrode film 7 and the electrical double layers are not formed and, therefore, the deterioration in the image quality does not arise.</p> |
