<p>PURPOSE: To prevent the burning of a liquid crystal display device having TFTs by specifying the thickness of the oriented films of at least one glass substrates of a liquid crystal display device formed with the oriented films on the respective glass substrates. CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal display device is constituted by packing liquid crystals 3 between a pair of the first glass substrate 1 and second glass substrate 2 disposed to face each other and forming TFTs 6 on the front surface side of the first glass substrate 1. The respective oriented films 7, 13 of at least one of the glass substrates are formed of thin films having a thickness of <=60nm, more preferably <=50nm. Only the one oriented film 7 or 13 may be formed of the thin film having such film thicknesses. The first substrate oriented film 7 and the second substrate oriented film 13 may be formed to different thicknesses in the case both of the oriented films 7, 13 are formed of the thin films. Color filters are formed on the second glass substrate 2 and the oriented film 13 of the second glass substrate 2 is preferably thinner than the oriented film 7 of the first glass substrate 1. As a result, the quantity of the charges accumulated in the oriented films 7, 13 is decreased and the burning is prevented.</p> |
