<p>A steel casting stopper rod comprising a body (2) with a tip (5) made of a carbon-containing refractory material. The tip (5) is at least partially coated with an outer layer (4) capable of forming a gas-tight, oxidised, densified sintered layer at temperatures higher than 1000 °C. The layer (4) preferably consists of a refractory material comprising sintering precursors such as calcined alumina, reactive calcined alumina, silica fumes or clays.</p> |
