<p>A fluid delivery system is disclosed which includes a pump (12) and a fluid delivery set (11). The fluid delivery set (11) includes a stop cock valve (19), and the pump (12) includes a valve actuation unit (14) into which the stop cock valve (19) is positioned for operation of the system. The valve actuation unit (14) includes a valve receiving mechanism (32) which requires the valve (19) to be closed in order to be inserted into or removed from the valve actuation unit (14), thereby preventing accidental free flow of fluid at all times. The fluid delivery set (11) may also include an auxiliary fluid source (18) to allow periodic flushing of the fluid delivery line (25), and the valve actuation unit (14) can be programmed by the pump (12) to automatically initiate periodic flushing cycles if desired.</p> |
