The end of the engine away from the transmission is provided with an output drive from the crankshaft (5) and has a universal joint (7) to connect a flywheel (4) to the crankshaft. An adjustable support (10) varies the angle ( alpha ) of the flywheel w.r.t. the engine axis to dampen second order vibrations.The second order vibrations are measured by a sensing system which drives the adjustable support for the damping flywheel. The control adjusts the support to minimise second order vibrations for any setting of the engine.
