The ring (11) has a receptacle (30) to receive an identification transponder. The ring (11) is formed as a thick walled hollow cylinder whose wall (12) is interrupted at a point of the circumference. At that point, the ends (13) of the wall (12) are to be joined together to make a locking connection (14) so as to close the ring (11). A chamber (17) is formed at one end of the wall (12) between an outer wall (23) and an inner wall (28) connected to each other by a cover (27). A barbed hook (15) is formed on the other end (13). The hook has a bent back shoulder (18). The hook (15) is shaped to be tangentially inserted and wedged into the chamber (17).The walls (23, 28) of the chamber (17) are rigidly connected to each other by the moulded cover (27) and so cannot spread to unblock the ring. The opposite opening of the chamber is preferably joined by lips (29) so that the hook (15) cannot be pulled out of the chamber (17) parallel to the ring axis (10).
