The elastic gaiter (8) has a small end shaped (4) to sit on a shaped section of the rotating shaft while the larger end is folded back over itself and is secured into the end of the rigid mounting flange (18). The flange has a stepped profile to clip onto the support housing and grips the gaiter with a crimped fitting.The crimped fitting has a U-shaped grip, with outer double wall (14) and with a waisted profile to provide a secure grip onto the gaiter. The end lip of the gaiter can also be shaped with a groove to improve the grip.
