Removal of organo-Pb cpds., esp. Pb alkyls, from water comprises: (a) adding a cpd. (I) forming OH radicals when exposed to UV light and exposure to enough UV light to prevent a mirror forming on the UV source; (b) adding a metal cpd. (II) forming metal hydroxide flocks as flocculant; (c) adjusting to pH 6-8 if necessary and (d) sepg. the ppte. from the water.
