<p>The switch includes the cartridge (C) which has a cylindrical envelope (1) closed by two end pieces (2,3) and containing two arc contacts. The fixed contact (4) is secured through one end piece (2). The moving contact (5) slides axially within the cartridge between open and closed positions. The arc current is constrained to follow a path inclined w.r.t. the plane (P) of the contact faces (4a,5a) so as to generate an axial magnetic field within the arcing region. This is achieved by arrangement of conducting portions connecting contact pieces (8,9) and electrodes (10,11) so that these portions do not face each other.</p> |
