Gravity-actuated pawl arrangement for railway carrying at least one railed vehicle

In a gravity-actuated pawl stop arrangement (16), engaging a rack (18) fixed to a rail, at least one tilting lever (28) is provided, disengaging from the rack during forwards motion of a railed vehicle and causing engagement of the pawl during movement in the opposite direction. Pref. the lever pivots at one end on the pawl, with its free end pivotable on a guideway (30), on which it is frictionally engaged. The guideway is pref. made of a polymeric plastic, e.g. polyamide, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer or tetrafluoroethylene.
