Unwinding of cord from stationary spool e.g. for fishing line

The unwinding device may pay out a cord, e.g. a fishing line, from a fixed spool (1). There are fixed flanges (2,3) preventing the cord from slipping off the spool. One of the flanges (2) carries a housing (4) which may contain parts of the winding mechanism. The second flange (3) carries a winding device.The winding device may consist of a ring (5) running on ball bearings on the periphery of the flange. Alternately a disc may be used which overlaps the edge of the flange and is held on a shaft running on bearings inside the hollow spool. The ring or disc is shaped so that it can minimise friction on the thread and unwind it from the spool.
