Seal for interlocking pipe ends

The interlocking profiles of the pipe sections are shaped to fit into each other. A convex male profile (2) locates in a concave female coupling (15) and is sealed into same by a sealing ring (12) attached to the male section. The sealing ring is attached to a harder support ring (22) which serves to control the concentricity of the connection.The shaped support ring is located via a stepped profile in the convex coupling. The flexible seal is displaced by the action of making the connection and a lipped end (14) forms the seal between the support ring and the concave coupling for a good mechanical support.
