Steering lock for motor vehicles

The steering lock has a locking member (2) spring loaded in the unlocking position. This spring tension is less than the biassing of the locking member in the locking position which is caused by the spring loading of the slider (3) through which the closing cylinder interacts with the locking member.The locking member (2) has two parallel tongues (23a) each with an inclined face. The slider has two corresponding inclined faces which interact with those of the locking member to move same into the locking position. The two tongues can have further inclined faces to interact with further inclined faces of the slider to move the locking member into the unlocked position.
