Closure for vehicle engine hood

The closure (1) comprises a snap-action or rotary latch lock (2) with a locking pawl (3) for full closure and a safety hook (4) for a preliminary securing. A key (5) actuated lock cylinder (6) is provided, for opening the pawl and hook, which penetrates the engine bonnet.Pref. the bonnet closure forms a separately handled unit. All its functional elements are enclosed in a housing (8) in the mounted state in the engine bonnet. The pawl and hook may be coupled to the lock such that the key turning opens either the pawl or the hook.
