PURPOSE: To decompose cyan without treating by chemical agent such as chlorine in industrial waste water, especially, cyan-containing waste water to contribute to safe operation and preservation of the environment. CONSTITUTION: A mercury lamp 5 is inserted in the quartz cylindrical body 4 arranged in a reaction tank 3 and an ozone jet member 6 and an air jet member 7 are provided to the bottom part of the tank to constitute an ozone oxidizing reaction part A used in combination with ultraviolet irradiation and a filter part 13, a cation exchange column 14 and an anion exchange column 15 are combined with the reaction part A. Therefore, ozone decomposes cyan and, since excessive ozone is self-decomposed to become oxygen, chlorine or harmful partial oxide are not increased during treatment. When ozone is irradiated with ultraviolet rays, the decomposition of cyan is accelerated. Cyan remaining in treated water subjected to ozone oxidation is adsorbed and removed in the ion exchange resin columns. |
