PURPOSE: To obtain a water-soluble or dispersible polymer useful as an additive for paper to improve its strength, water filterability, etc., further useful as an anchoring auxiliary agent for sizing agents, a coagulating agent, etc., by introducing an aminotriazine ring to a (meth)acrylamide group. CONSTITUTION: This polymer comprises (A) 0.05-60mol.% of aminotriazine ring derivative (salt) units of the formula [R1 is H, CH3 ; X is NH2 , NHR2 , N(Ar)2 (R2 is an alkyl; Ar is cyclohexyl, phenyl, etc.,), etc.], (B) 20-99.95 mol.3 of (meth)acrylamide structure units, and (C) 0-40mol.% ofα,β-unsaturated (di) carboxylic acid (salt) structure units and/orα/β-unsaturated sulfonic acid (salt) structure units.
