PURPOSE: To obtain a stable-quality rubber useful as a measure for preventing allergy in high productivity, by treating a natural rubber latex with a protease and a surfactant followed by addition of a salt and washing to easily and efficiently deproteinize the latex. CONSTITUTION: This invention comprises treating a natural rubber latex with a protease and a surfactant to decompose proteins in the natural rubber latex followed by addition of a salt and washing. An alkali protease, etc., is used as the protease, and a lipase or an esterase, etc., can be used in combination with the protease. A 10-20C carboxylate is preferable as the surfactant, which is added at 0.001 to 20wt.% based on solid rubber content. Decomposition treatment is conducted for a period of a few minutes to one week. Sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, etc., is used as the salt, which is added at 1 to 50 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of solid rubber content.
