PURPOSE: To obtain a one can type water-based dispersion composition which shows excellent storage stability and gives a cold-curable coating layer of high toughness, water resistance, solvent resistance and adhesion by mixing two kinds of water-based dispersions of vinyl copolymers bearing isocyanate group and hydroxyl group, respectively. CONSTITUTION: (A) A water-based dispersion of a vinyl copolymer bearing free isocyanate groups and (B) a water-based dispersion of a vinyl copolymer which is compatible with the component A and has a 30-90wt.% gelation fraction of hydroxyl group-containing copolymer are mixed at such a ratio that the hydroxyl groups in the component B becomes 0.1-1.2 equivalent per 1 equivalent of the isocyanate group in the component A to give the objective dispersion composition. The vinyl copolymer in component A is obtained from a 1-20wt.% of m- and/or p-isopropenyl-α,α'-dimethylbenzyl isocyanate, 0.5-5wt.% of a carboxyl and/or amide group-containing monomer and 98.9-75wt.% of other vinylmonomers without bearing active hydrogen.
