PURPOSE: To obtain the subject ink containing water, a water-soluble organic solvent, a dispersion of a pigment or a disperse dye treated with a specific dispersing agent and a specific surfactant and exhibiting excellent storage stability, fixability, color-development, etc. CONSTITUTION: This ink contains at least (A) water, (B) a water-soluble organic solvent, (C) a dispersion of a pigment or a disperse dye produced by dispersing (i) a pigment or a disperse dye with (ii) a polymeric dispersing agent having anionic dissociation group and (D) a surfactant having an HLB of >=14 and consisting of an ethylene oxide adduct of a higher aliphatic amine expressed e.g. by formula I (R<1> is a 8-18C alkyl; m+n is an integer of 6-48) or an ethylene oxide adduct to an aliphatic acid amide expressed e.g. by formula II (R<2> is an 8-18C alkyl; (x), (y) and (z) are each an integer of 3-16; (x+y+z) is an integer of <=48). The component (ii) preferably has a weight-average molecular weight of 3,000-15,000 and is composed of a copolymer of a hydrophobic monomer and a hydrophilic monomer or its salt. |
