<p>PURPOSE: To provide the fibrous material of a diesel particulate filter which prevents the fibrous material from snapping and thereby makes possible the molding of a filter, and a method of manufacturing the fibrous material. CONSTITUTION: The fibrous material of a diesel prticulate filter consists of a ceramic fiber-laminated material 5 of laminated ceramic fibers 7, and a glass layer 6 of a glass material which has low Young's modulus and almost an equal coefficient of linear expansion to ceramic fiber and is coated on the outer peripheral surface 8 of the ceramic fiber-laminated layer 5. The ceramic fiber 7 is constituted of an SiC ceramic fiber, and the glass layer 6 is constituted of an oxynitride glass material such as Mg-Al-Si-O-N, Y-Al-Si-O-N, Li-Al-Si-O-N.</p> |
